MANTLE QUEST JAPAN’s (MQJ) goal is to achieve incident-free operations. Any employee can stop the job and demand that a re-evaluation of any aspect of HSE performance be made. Health, safety, and environmental protection are crucial factors in business management and of prime importance to MQJ.
MQJ shall contribute to society by managing the drillship CHIKYU with foremost attention to the health of its employees, safe operation, and environmental protection.
To accomplish our objectives MQJ has adopted the HSE Management System (HSE MS), which conforms to ISM Code. The Manager of the HSE Department is assigned as the Designated Person to whom I entrust responsibility and authority for effective implementation of the system and for affecting
a link between the head office (onshore) and CHIKYU (offshore).
I request all employees of MQJ to conduct their duties in accordance with the HSE MS Manual and all other appropriate documentation. I will ensure that personnel at all levels within the organization are fully conversant with the Health, Safety & Environment Policy through training programs, managerial leadership, and policy enforcement. All personnel onboard CHIKYU are requested to comply with this policy and the HSE MS.
I have firm confidence that MQJ’s HSE MS will steadily and continuously improve to address evolving requirements and standards, meet and exceed industry best practice, and achieve zero incidents.
Ultimate responsibility for the implementation of the HSE MS rests with the President of MQJ.
