Mantle Quest Japan Company Ltd. is a company established for the purpose of being entrusted with the operation and management of the deep-sea drilling vessel “CHIKYU” owned by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) , and contributes to the ambitious scientific and technological objectives set by the Institute for Marine-Earth Exploration and Engineering (MarE3) under the direction of JAMSTEC.
