The Great East Japan Earthquake

Mar. 11th, 2011
On facing of the earthquake, "CHIKYU" was anchored in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, and left the shore to avoid a tsunami in emergency with 48 elementary school students on-board who were on a tour of the ship at the time, immediately after the warning was issued,
At the noon of next day, the elementary school students disembarked by a helicopter of Maritime Self-Defense Force, and everyone including all of crew returned safely.
